Lisa Perry RTW Fall 2013

Lisa Perry RTW Fall 2013

“We went out of the box,” said Lisa Perry at Wednesday’s fall presentation in her Madison Avenue boutique. It was a good decision as the collection demonstrated an impressive evolution for the designer. There was still a Sixties vibe to the clothes, but it was worked in more subtly than in past seasons. Perry noticeably expanded her offering of separates with a strong assortment of jackets, pants, skirts and knits — the colorful graphic sweater was a standout — and she stepped up her material play. A houndstooth coat, for instance, featured a wide fox-fur trim, while a reversible double-faced wool, used for a jacket, shift and A-line skirt, was done in Perry’s signature dot pattern on one side and a glen plaid on the other for a fun and functional look. This collection should have a wider appeal, which is a good thing now that the designer is looking to build her wholesale business.
